How to store garlic

How to store garlic? In Google it is a highly sought-after action and no doubt you too will have asked yourself frequently. First of all, garlic is easy to keep if it has been treated in the best way and if the drying has been adequate. Our farm takes care of the drying by selecting only the best and native garlic heads and buying them from nearby and trusted growers. In general, garlic is kept in a dry, cool, well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight and heat. The ideal temperatures are around 15° C, but garlic can also be preserved in salt, in oil: find out here all the advice on how to preserve the best organic garlic in Italy.

Garlic in oil

Peel the garlic and put the cloves in a previously sterilized jar. Add the extra-virgin olive oil until all the garlic is covered and immediately close the glass jar. To best preserve the garlic, put the same jar in the refrigerator and when needed, open and use the cloves needed for your preparations.

Pickled garlic

Also in this case, peel the garlic, place it in a fairly large glass jar and then sprinkle with wine vinegar, or apple vinegar. The jar must always be sterilized first and then stored in the refrigerator: this allows you to always have a fresh product where bacteria will not proliferate. You can also add salt to the vinegar liquid, species, for example, bay leaf, oregano, thyme, marjoram, peppercorns, red pepper.

Salt flavored with garlic, or garlic in salt

Preserving garlic allows you to have tasty ready-to-use products that will give your dishes that extra quid In particular, you can make a delicious garlic salt with garlic cloves, but you can also use the same savory wedges to flavor sauces, gravies, baked or en papillote fish, meats, braised meats, vegetables, etc. Put the dehydrated or fresh garlic into the food processor and blend it until it is finely chopped or finely chopped. Add 4 parts sea salt and blend for one minute. You can also decide to add only the whole cloves to the salt in the previously sterilized glass jar, as these will already give the salt its aroma. For better conservation, put the garlic salt in the refrigerator and use it after about 15-20 days of rest.

N.B. Garlic keeps for a very long time if carefully prepared in oil, vinegar or salt. Especially if you keep it in the refrigerator, you’ll ensure a real joker in the kitchen, always ready for use and which will last even over 12 months. Prepare it and give it as a gift for Christmas, or create DIY gastronomic favors with our organic and certified garlic.
